Hello all,

As I am preparing to put together our first meet entry and line-up for the West Bloomfield Invitational on September 10, I thought it would be a good time to send out a detailed email highlighting this procedure for those swimmers new to HS.  There are basically three different types of meets, the dual meet, much like the green and white meet we just experienced; the limited entry invitational, what 9/10 West Bloomfield meet is; and the time standard limited meet, Oakland County on 10/1.

Starting at the beginning of the schedule, this first meet on 9/10 is a entry limited meet.  Because of the size of our team not everyone will make this team to compete at this meet. We are only allowed four swimmers per event. We will need to take swimmers to fill relays but in some cases they will only swim relays. In meets of this type as many girls as possible will be taken while still scoring the most points possible.  In this particular case the girls will know on Tuesday, September 7th whether or not they will be going to the meet to swim.

Dual meets are usually organized between the two competing coaches to include exhibition heats to allow for all swimmers to race.  Exhibition heats and swimmers noted as such simply mean that they are not eligible to score points but their time does count towards their personal best times. In all dual meets only 3 swimmers for each team in each event are eligible to score points.  We will always put together the fastest line-up to give NOVI the most possible points.

Time Standard limited meets, such as Oakland Counties (10/1) or State meet (11/19) are meets where the individual swimmer or relay must achieve a qualifying time.  This means that in order to swim in these meets any given race must equal or be faster than the published qualifying times.  You can find these times for these meets at noviswim.com
